College Search and Scholarships
You'll want to encourage each student to make a personal list of the most important features for him or her in a college, including these factors:
- Program: Can you learn what you want to learn there?
- Type of college: Will you do best in a two- or four-year school? Specialized or general? Public or private? Religious affiliation or non-affiliated?
- Size: Are you more comfortable with many people and many choices, or with a smaller, more intimate school?
- Location: Do you want an urban, rural, or suburban environment? How close to home do you want to be?
- Facilities: How about labs, libraries, athletic facilities, etc.? Can you find the places you will need or want?
- College life: Do you want to live on or off campus? Are your preferred activities or groups available?
- Cost and financial aid: Consider these together.
