Parents

Finishing high school and getting into college is a major turning point in your child's life. You know what it's like living with a teenager - that constant pull between independence and needing help. That push-pull will come into play in making this transition, too. But don't be scared off by your teenager - or by the size of the job. Your child needs your help, and jump-starting his or her future with the right kind of education isn't as hard as you might think.

Be involved!

Recent evidence from the National Education Association shows that students with involved parents - no matter what their income or background - are more likely to:

  • Attend regularly
  • Score better on tests
  • Enroll in challenging classes
  • Have a smoother social life
  • Graduate from high school
  • Go on to college
