Cincinnati School Based Resource Coordination
Community-school partnerships have the potential to raise student achievement and revitalize neighborhoods. According to the Coalition for Community Schools' publication Making the Difference: Research and Practice in Community Schools, which features evaluation findings from 20 community school models across the country - schools that serve as centers of community:

    • improve student learning
    • promote family involvement with students and schools
    • increase school effectiveness and shared responsibility for results, and
    • increase the vitality of entire communities

Community-school partnerships that are built to provide supports to students, families and communities can change the way many schools and community resources operate today. Community-school partnerships can help break down barriers and foster collaboration to maximize results for students, families, schools, and neighborhoods.

Cincinnati Out of School Youth
There is no single reason why students drop out of high school.  A survey of young people who left high school without graduating suggest that, despite career aspirations that require education beyond high school and a majority having grades of C or better, circumstances in students' lives and an inadequate response to those circumstances from the schools led to dropping out.

Cincinnati Family Engagement
Family involvement is an essential element in the success of students and their schools.  Parents cannot be relegated to the sidelines or seen as less important than "real educators."

Effective and wide-ranging family participation in the education of their children is one of the most important factors in a student’s success in schools and, correspondingly, a central characteristic of successful schools.  Too frequently, however, schools and districts continue to face challenges that impede efforts to effectively advance parental involvement, especially for parents of students who have the greatest academic challenges and related needs.
