Priority Strategies and Partners

Strive is working with professional educators at each level to assure that teaching and learning are based on 21st century standards that are supported with rigorous curriculum and timely assessments. Current work with school districts, service providers and the community includes:

Strategic Planning and Support
Strive supports each urban school district implementing their comprehensive strategic plan.

Cincinnati Public Schools
At the request of the Board of Education (February, 2007), Strive is charged with restructuring CPS to better meet the needs of students.  Working with McKinsey & Company, work includes aligning the central office and central services to better support the district’s strategic plan.

Newport Independent Schools
At the request of the Superintendent, Strive will support the use of Strive Six Sigma - a continuous improvement process to help implement the district’s strategic plan.

Covington Independent Schools
Strive is working with leadership in the district to determine the how Strive can most effectively support current efforts beyond the current work to coordinate childhood education and align the programs with the K12 system.


Cincinnati Elementary Tutoring
Elementary school tutoring has become a focus in Cincinnati.  A student success network is currently being formed.

Teacher Training and Professional Development
Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky are home to some of the most respected teacher training and support initiatives in the country. University of Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky University, Xavier University, and the College of Mount Saint Joseph have all been recognized for their teacher education programs. In addition, the Mayerson Academy has received accolades as a premier teacher support center. Teachers from across the region have come to the Academy to brush up on their skills and learn new ways of improving student learning.

The Mayerson Academy and the College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services, University of Cincinnati have agreed to establish a partnership to address the gaps on the continuum of teacher preparation, initial licensure, and teacher professional development throughout the teacher’s career, specific to urban teachers .
