Cheryl Broadnax

Senior Director of District Improvement

Cheryl Broadnax is senior director of district improvement at StriveTogether, where she leads efforts to support K-12 systems to achieve better, more equitable results by providing technical assistance, building curriculum and aligning national partners that support school districts.

Before coming to StriveTogether, Cheryl was an assistant superintendent for Cincinnati Public Schools. She expanded preschool programs, increasing preschool enrollment and playing an integral role in a partnership with Cincinnati Preschool Promise. Cheryl also led efforts to improve literacy outcomes by partnering with community and health care agencies to bring the principles of quality improvement to education. She received the Women of Influence Award in 2015 for her contributions.

Prior to leading at the district level, Cheryl served as principal of Hartwell School in Cincinnati. She led the school to achieving the Ohio Department of Education’s rating of excellent for 2009-2010 and excellent with distinction, the state’s highest rating, in 2011-2012. These results earned her the Cincinnatus Association’s 2013 James N. Jacobs Award for Outstanding Administration.

Cheryl earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Tennessee, a master’s of professional development from the College of Mount St. Joseph (now Mount St. Joseph University) and an administration certification from Xavier University.

A place that has shaped me is my church community. Over the years my faith has let me discover different meanings to life. But one purpose has never changed: Serve with gratitude and humility using your given talents to help promote goodness.
