Director of Digital Marketing

Deidre Hazelbaker is director of digital marketing at StriveTogether. In this role, she is responsible for developing and executing data-driven content marketing strategy across digital platforms.

Deidre is from middle-of-nowhere, Ohio. At age 5, she knew how to do her own laundry and get herself to school on time. By age 11, she was living the AIDS epidemic. She watched her real dad short-live his life. By age 15, her mother with bipolar disorder had turned her world upside down through schizophrenic episodes.

Determined to break the cycle, Deidre attended college at Bowling Green State University – as far away from home as possible while still in-state. She started her career as a graphic designer and pivoted to marketing while working at Perfetti Van Melle, maker of Mentos and Airheads candy.

While 6-months pregnant, she started her own digital marketing business. She is a marketing unicorn grounded in branding and strategy. She is results driven. She worked with brands ranging from Gold Star Chili to Kroger Simple Truth. She worked with missions like Quit Culture, an Interact for Health program aimed at reducing smoking in Black communities.

Deidre is active in the Loveland, Ohio community and Cincinnati Friends Meeting. She has two happy-go-lucky daughters, a best friend for a partner and a lovable chocolate lab. Her and her family love anything outdoors.

What is a place that shaped you, and how does it give you purpose?

I grew up in a small village in Ohio on the edge of Appalachia. Racism ran deep. There was one black family in the entire community and the rest of us were white. There are some great neighbors there. If you want to see a community in action, watch my small town rally behind someone battling cancer or a family in need. Since graduation, I set out to experience many walks of life and cultures. I am no longer afraid to recognize inequality, privilege and racism and act.
