Monica McHugh
Senior Director, People Experience
Monica McHugh serves as the senior director of people experience. In this role, she leads StriveTogether’s people and culture strategy to ensure that the organization attracts, retains and supports a diverse, mission-driven and high-performing team. Her work focuses on effective management, staff engagement, policy leadership and execution across the employee lifecycle, as well as driving organizational priorities.
Prior to joining Strive Together, Monica served as a senior director of human resources at Arabella Advisors, leading HR strategic planning and guiding organizational development. Monica partnered with executives to address complex organizational challenges, strengthen HR systems and processes and foster high-performing, inclusive teams. She has also served as senior director and head of people and culture at Orr Group, where she led the people function and steered major change management initiatives. Monica previously spent over a decade in the nonprofit arena, working to empower people to participate in political processes.
Monica holds a master of public administration in public and nonprofit management from the Trachtenberg School of Public Policy & Public Administration at the George Washington University. She received a Bachelor of Arts in political science with a minor in women, gender and sexuality from Trinity College in Connecticut. Monica lives in Maryland with her husband and two fluffy cats.
